This new hotel in western Thailand allows guests to choose either traditional accomodation on land or have a once in a lifetime experience on a private floating "raft."

Z9 Resort on Srinakarin Lake gives its guests views out of this world and allows them to experience nature without even stepping out of their room. The hotel has 15 “floating houses” that guests can book for endless water views and a uniquely tranquil environment.

Those who decided to gain the full experience and stay in floating accommodation are required to walk out on a dock in order to access their private "raft." Each room has floor-to-ceiling glass to make the most of the stunning views. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and there is also the opportunity to order room service. To top it off, the guests have open access to the water, meaning they can directly leave their terrace and kayak out onto the lake.

The hotel was designed by a Bangkok based firm, Dersyn Studio. Despite being quirky and unique, the architects chose to build the project on the water in order to protect the environment. By creating the floating rafts, the project could cut back on the amount of land that needed to be unearthed for the hotel (very smart!).

As well as this, the project was built with discarded lumber and the ceilings are made from compressed wood flakes. Because much of the reclaimed wood was quite large, pieces were recycled to be used for the interior furniture too. There is a closed circuit water treatment to treat the water coming out of the resort before it drains into the lake, allowing guests to freely enjoy activities on the water.
